Whether you’re hosting a large party or enjoying a cozy gathering, this dip will undoubtedly be the MVP of your Super Bowl spread. So, gather your ingredients, get ready to cheer, and let the games begin!

What you’ll need to make Layered Chili Cheese Dip: (Be sure to see the full printable recipe below this post.)

Cream cheese, block

Sour Cream

Canned chili (about 15 oz) chili (with or without beans, based on preference. I made this with beans)

Tabasco sauce

Shredded pepper jack cheese

Shredded medium cheddar cheese

Tortilla chips or Frito scoops

  • Optional garnishes: sliced jalapeños, chopped cilantro, diced tomatoes, or sliced green onions

How to make Easy Chili Cheese Dip:

  1. Preheat your oven** to  350 degrees (190°C). While the oven warms up, take this time to mingle with your guests and get everyone in the spirit of the game.
  2. Prepare the baking dish.** Use a medium-sized baking dish, a 9×9 inch or similar. I prefer a round pie plate. Using an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese and sour cream together until smooth and spread  the softened cream cheese mixture evenly at the bottom of the dish, creating a creamy base layer. This layer acts as a smooth foundation for our dip, ensuring every bite starts with a rich and velvety texture.
  3.   Add the chili layer.** Gently spread the can of chili over the cream cheese layer. Whether you choose chili with beans or without, it adds a hearty and robust flavor that pairs beautifully with the creamy base. Be sure to use a good quality canned chili such as Hormel.
  4. Add 3 or 4 dashes of Tabasco sauce over the chili layer. This really makes a huge difference in the taste. Heats it up quite a bit!

  5.  Next, grate the cheeses. Freshly grated cheese makes all the difference in the world in this recipe. Please don’t buy the pre grated packages. Remember I always want your dishes to turned out tasting the very best. That’s why I share all my secret tips with you.
  6. Mix the cheeses together and sprinkle over the chili layer. .** Cover the chili layer with the shredded Pepper Jack and cheddar cheese. The pepper jack adds a delightful kick, while the cheddar brings a classic, beloved taste that’s irresistible.

  7. Bake to perfection.** Slide the dish into the oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden. The anticipation of this dip is almost as exciting as the game itself!

  8.   Garnish and serve immediately! Be sure to add your choice of optional garnishes to elevate the flavors and add a pop of color. My favorite is chopped green onions.

Helpful Tips:

– Serve it hot:** This dip is best enjoyed hot or immediately after taking it out of the oven, so try to time it so that it’s ready just before halftime. It’ll be a welcome treat that gets everyone revved up for the second half. Note: If your dip get cold or lukewarm, cover with plastic wrap and pop in the microwave for a few minutes or until the cheeses are melted again. Or you can also make this dip in the crockpot. Just follow the directions on layering each layer. Cover and heat on medium heat and later reduce to low or simmer. Serve in the crockpot with a basket of tortillas chips or Fritos beside the crockpot.

–  Accompaniments:** Offer a variety of dippers such as tortilla chips, sliced baguette, or fresh veggies. It caters to different tastes and adds an interactive element to your spread.

– Make-ahead:** If you’re pressed for time on the game day, you can assemble the dip a day in advance and refrigerate. Just pop it in the oven before your guests arrive, and you’re good to go!

Entertaining Ideas:

– **Themed decorations:** Get into the spirit of the game with themed decorations. Use team colors for tablecloths, napkins, and even the serving dishes for your dip.

– **Interactive games:** Keep the excitement going during commercial breaks with football trivia, or a friendly game of flag football outside if space allows.

Remember, the key to a great party is not just the food but the company and the memories you create together. So, enjoy every moment, indulge in every bite, and may the best team win!

  4. Mix the cheeses together and sprinkle the chili layer with a generous blend of shredded pepper jack and cheddar cheese. The pepper jack adds a delightful kick, while the cheddar brings a classic, beloved taste that’s irresistible.
  5. Bake to perfection. Slide the dish into the oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden. The anticipation of this dip is almost as exciting as the game itself!
  6. Serve immediately. Be sure to add  your choice of optional garnishes to elevate the flavors and add a pop of color.
  7. Serve with tortilla chips, Fritos, potato chips or Ritz crackers. Enjoy!
