Old Fashioned Lemonade

By May 9, 2018 No Comments

I’ve got that summertime feeling…..because it’s officially porch sittin’-lemonade sippin’ kind of weather in our neck of the woods!

“Ah, the taste of homemade lemonade”-A lovely Southern classic!  Sweet and tart, there is nothing as refreshing on a hot summer day as an ice cold glass of fresh squeezed lemonade made from scratch…one sip will take you back to all those happy childhood memories of fun- filled- long- hot- summer- days!

So put up those powdered lemonade mixes because today we are going to make the real deal.

Once you’ve tasted lemonade made the old fashioned way with real fresh squeezed lemons, you will never go back to a mix again. I promise!

Let’s get started because I’m getting real thirsty! Aren’t you?

This recipe is the best I’ve ever tasted and the easiest too. We start out making sugar syrup. To make the syrup just simply pour boiling water over the sugar and let the sugar dissolve.

Stir in lemon zest, juice and lemon slices. Add cold water and stir. That’s it! It’s just that simple!

For garnish, I like to put a lemon slice on each glass and a fresh sprig of mint. I love to make it look pretty.

Now relax, go sit on the porch. Sip your lemonade and take some time to enjoy the simpler things in life. They are the best!
