A Southern Gem: The Marietta Local in Marietta Square
There’s something about Marietta Square that just makes you feel at home. Maybe it’s the historic charm, the way local musicians seem to find the perfect song for a sunny afternoon, or the smell of something good cooking around every corner.
Whatever it is, this spot in the heart of Marietta has a magic all its own—and if you’re hungry, you’ll find yourself wandering straight into The Marietta Local.
And let me tell you, this little place doesn’t disappoint.
Award-Winning Comfort Food
The Marietta Local has built quite the reputation around town—and for good reason. The Marietta Local has earned accolades for its exceptional cuisine, including recognition in the “Best of Cobb 2020” awards, a testament to its status as a community favorite.
The Dish That Stole My Heart: Fried Chicken and French Toast.
Now, I don’t throw around words like “life-changing” too often, but this dish? It’s close. Imagine crispy, perfectly seasoned boneless fried chicken sitting next to golden French toast made from thick challah bread. (And if you’re wondering, yes, challah bread is just as fancy as it sounds, but it sure does make for a great slice of French toast.) Add in warm cinnamon apples and pure maple syrup, and suddenly you’ve got sweet, savory, and Southern all on one plate.
It’s the kind of dish you start telling people about before you’ve even swallowed the first bite.
What Else is on the Menu?
While I’m still daydreaming about the fried chicken and French toast, I’m already plotting my next visit for their Fried Chicken Platter. It comes with creamy stone-ground grits and collard greens seasoned just right. If that’s not a true Southern meal, I don’t know what is.
A few other dishes that’ll catch your eye:
•Nashville Hot Chicken: If you like it spicy, this one’s for you.
•Fresh Salads: You know, for those days you’re trying to behave.
•Hearty Sandwiches: Comfort food between two slices of bread.
The Vibe
The Marietta Local is the kind of place where everyone fits in. On my visit, the restaurant was buzzing with all kinds of folks—families, friends catching up, even solo diners like me just soaking in the scene. The air was full of laughter, the clink of forks and plates, and the smell of food that warms your soul.
It’s the perfect spot for a holiday brunch, a quick lunch after shopping, or a lazy Saturday morning when you’re craving something extra special.
Why You Should Go
The Marietta Local isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a little slice of Southern hospitality where the food’s made with care and everyone feels like they belong. Whether you’re digging into their famous fried chicken, testing your spice tolerance with Nashville Hot Chicken, or just sipping on a cup of coffee, you’ll leave full and happy.
